“Star Trek The Next Generation”, or “TNG” as it is fondly called is the quintessential show that started many young men and women on the path of enjoying the science fiction genre. Of course we have the famous authors such as Asimov and Clarke who sparked the imaginations behind hit TV shows and movies. The graphic novel (comic book) science fiction genre is no slouch either when it comes to great works. It shows no signs of letting up. Even the graphic novels that sell for more than the cost of many paperback books of the genre are wildly popular.

Back when Flash Gordon showed us ray guns and extraterrestrial beings living in made up societies on Mars, it was the beginning of the technological age of electronics. Science Fiction and How It Affects Modern Society

Science fiction has been around for decades and its earliest form can be found in Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”. Modern society is often fascinated by things that are out of reach or often out of this world. This article will take a look at the reasons why we are so fascinated with science fiction and comic book heroes.

Science fiction offers us a way to expand our imaginations and seek out a world that is generally out of reach. Everyday life can start to take its toll on any one person and science fiction offers a gateway out of worldly problems. Wouldn’t you rather discover a new planet than pay your electricity bills? Unfortunately, nothing offers a permanent escape, but for a few minutes or hours, you can see the world from different eyes.

You can feel great and powerful. When you watch Superman or wear a superhuman strength costume, you generally channel the personality of a certain character. People who are often shy or don’t feel attached to reality find refuge in channeling a superhero personality. Read more…
